unless what your mate actually said was get the bleep away from that you bleeping idiot, he is probably ok.

The manager, however, as SarEl says.

    Sorry - this is incorrect.

Management can conduct any investigations they wish at any time and they do not have to tell anyone that they are doing so. They only need to inform if they wish to interview your friend or bring disciplinary action.

thanks for this, wasnt too sure whether 1 should be informed of investigation, now its clear.

I think the accuse had make harm to your mate. If it's general in your country, is harmful to your country. Violate human's free right.

There certainly has been a breach of confidentiality - but it won't help you friend because the breach is the manager discussing something with your mate that he should not have done, putting the investigation in jeoprady. For the manager this is a very serious allegation and could easily result in their dismissal - gossiping the conbfidential information about an invetsigation to anyone, never mind the person under investigation, is very serious indeed.

Ok , thank you for taking the time to respond. Does it matter at all that the manager who is discussing the matter with my mate is the same on who is conducting the investigation?
He hasnt exactly gave loads away to my mate just that he received a complaint from another worker and is looking into it at present.

i asked my mate what he could have said to make this other worker lodge a complaint against him and the only incident he recalls between himsel and this other guy is this:
There is a strict policy in the factory of no climbing. If something cant be reached from the floor then you go get a forklift driver to get you whatever it is you cannot reach. My doesnt work in the same dept as the accuser but my mate was on his way down to the toilet one afternoon a few weeks back and he happened to see the other guy climbing up about 6 foot off the ground. Now this other guy hasnt worked there for long so my mate said to him "what are you doning up there? We arent allowed to climb incase we fall and if you do you will be !!!!!!ed so id advise you to come down" END OFF.

The other guy has reported this to management (without exagerating anything) and now there appears to be an ongoing investigation. My mate has told the manager what he said to the other guy and their two stories match up but the manager has said that it is not my mates place to tell other workers how to do their jobs!

Seems sometimes you cant do right for doing wrong.

is that all its about, maybe your mate shouldn't have said anything but the other guy should be told off for putting himself in danger.
