I've just checked out Lucy's website, it looks like they are doing well. She has developed yoga holidays for people and also holidays in spain and france. Dan is selling the stoves for £2056 and there are other bits and pieces, I am so happy for them and hope they succeed. They just gave the air of being such a peaceful happy family, if they could bottle that too and sell it they's make millions never mind pay off their mortgage.

Just so you know we did not have an austere life for 2 years but have found smarter and cheaper ways to enjoy life like going to free cinema screenings and walks with the children. Hope you enjoy the episode - obviously I can't give anything away before it is aired but I do look forward to your views. All I can say is I have had highs and lows and it has been an experience I will never forget, it has changed our lives completely in so many ways. (I'll never pay full price for anything ever again!):T
Just so you know my comments were not being negative. I only spoke for myself and wish all well who participated in this programme. I rarely pay for anything full price and enjoy walks as well. We can all cut down. I was talking personally about my own committments in life. My childrens life would be terribly austere if i did not help them out at uni. I also have a husband who cannot take on an additional job due to ill health. What Rene wanted was 100 per cent committment i could not have possibly done this with the financial obligations i have at present. I hope in my heart of hearts you all succeed and wait with bated breath to see who did.:D
  • cheers OP for reminding me of this prog, i watched it last year cos i had just taken out my 1st mortgage and thought i might find the magical answer of how to clear it in 2 years :rotfl:

can't say i would ever be willing to live like the people featured in the programmes but i loved watching them, and i hope they all did well with reducing, or even clearing their mortgages :)

I'm looking forward to this! Not a home owner, so no mortgage, but I actually enjoyed the shows last time and can't wait to see who managed it.

If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation

They seem such a genuine, lovely family don't they? I do hope they succeed and wish them all the best in anything they choose to do in the future.

  • I've just started watching this and about 10 minutes in I'm feeling all motivated.
I've got another car down the yard that needs breaking up into bits for Ebay. Must get on with it!

Looks like the first program to me.

Don't tell me that's how you spent your New Years Eve Tom!

Anyway, I've got a car on the drive which doesn't go. How much do you reckon I can make on it? ;)

  • I too loved this programme and can't wait for the next episodes. I couldn't change my lifestyle that much to attain the MF goal in that way, but have taken tips from the prog and of course MSE to try and at least knock a few years off the mortgage. Fair play to those can do it in a very short period of time!
