recruitment agencies that fish...

We noticed a job on the job centre, thought great that's perfect. Rang 'employer' up who said the job was first come, first serve. We were so confused, surely you want the BEST not just whoever turns up but anyhow we thought we might as well try. Went there to find it was a recruitment agency that had placed the ad, we had to sign up and they'd take matters there. Do they often do this? It seems a bit of a dodgy way to get clients?

thats rec agencies for u... a lot of them make up jobs just to add cv's to their list. so poor genuine job seeker is applying for a job that doesnt exists. a clear time wasting experience, while the rec agency grins from ear to ear having got another one on their books.

TRIPE... the lot of em. steer clear if at all possible.

I got suckered by one that posted a job as an employer and got back to me and did a phoned me to talk about the job. I searched the persons name online and BANG it was an agency worker.
  • I disagree with the poster - I think if you want a job, you have to play the game. Otherwise, you're just on your own which is no good to you if you're out of work!
  • if you were a rec-agency, and you needed to get a few hundred fresh CVs, how would you go about it?

CV fishing masquerading as real jobs is a grey area with respect to ethics, but it's certainly efficient!

Alternatively, would you reply to an ad that said "No real jobs on offer, but could you just send us your details, please"?
  • Does it make a difference if yours is the one they pick to put forward to an employer? If you're out of work, then time is on your side so you may as well go for it.

Agencies use people and all the consultants are really interested in is your viability for the long term and whether or not you are stupid enough to be kept dangling to to ensure great bonuses. If you are not then they will not have a job for you, i.e. if you have a brain. Also they use the same safe generic lack of personality types, are you one of them? You want to get yourself a job on your own two feet. Also what is the reference to we in this post. You are looking for you and no one else... right?..
