Non Payment on a Temporary Contract

A friend of mine has been working for a large company for eight weeks over the Christmas period.
Her contracts states that she should be paid weekly. However, she has only been paid once for her first week of work.
This was made as a direct payment into her account, so there is no excuse for the deposit not being paid.
She was due another payment today and it has not arrived, after talking to the manager he states that she will be paid on Tuesday.
Is this correct? I've looked around the ACAS site but I don't really know what I'm looking for.

It's true that if the money didn't go into her account on Friday, the first day it was likely to get there is tomorrow ...
ACAS have a free phone number, don't they? Worth a call to ask for advice. Because I'm not clear from your post how many weekly pay days she should have had. Some companies have a long waiting time before temporary salaries are paid: I know one place I worked reckoned that people could wait six weeks or more and then be paid that much in arrears, because the payroll run was mid-month but they didn't want to pay out ANY temp salaries before the work had been done, so they would only authorise payment of hours worked before the payroll run was due, if that makes sense ...Signature removed for peace of mind0
