CCJ removal advice

Hi all,
Firstly, MOD if this has been posted in the incorrect section please could you move it and I apologies in advance.
I have recently decided to buy a house from a friend and I've been struggling to obtain a mortgage from a number of different companies this was originally due to bad credit rating, which has recently improved to a satisfactory standard. I've only just found out that I'm unable to get a mortgage due to a CCJ. The debt had been paid in full and it is this last little thing which I need to sort before I can get a mortgage. I've been looking about on the Internet on ways in which to get this removed, but it all seems a little complicated for me. I'm unsure whether to get a solicitor to deal with my case, I have no idea really where to start. Is the process easy to get a CCJ removed or should I expect a long drawn out process?
Any questions feel free to ask. My first time using a form so bare with me.
Thanks you all for any help in advance.

What is the situation with the CCJ?
Who obtained it against you? what is the date of the CCJ? did you owe the money? did you respond to the court papers?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

We got the CCJ 5 years ago and we paid it off within a couple of months. It's still continuing to say that the CCJ is unsatisfactory, even though that we have paid it. This was what the creditors are seeing on our account even though we have paid the debt in full.0 -
if you have paid it off within a month, then you could expunge it. it will fall off your credit record entirely after 6 years any way.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

Well we obtained a loan and this was paid off in several installments, which was suggested by the accountant of ours. I'm not sure what is exactly mean't by responding to the court papers, but I did get in contact with the court and paid it in installments.
Also, I never received any proof of payment. Do I need to obtain proof of payment? Because that seems to be the only paper which I am missing.
Thanks, Joe0 -
