A big loan is finally repaid!

Britain borrowed billions in the 1940's from America and Canada (must be many many billions in today's money) to help us fight WW2.
We have just repaid it!

Thanks to our American and Canadian friends who did not have to help us then, but did, despite there being a very good chance that they would not have been repaid!
