Mortgage application and changing surname after marriage

Hi there,
My wife and I will be looking to apply for a mortgage in the next month however as we only got married 6 weeks ago, I was wondering what effect my wife changing her surname would have on any application (for credit searching reasons)? So the questions I have are:
P.s. we are in Scotland so even though we aren't ready to offer on a house, an agreement in principle is required before being taken seriously in viewing properties.
Thanks!
My wife and I will be looking to apply for a mortgage in the next month however as we only got married 6 weeks ago, I was wondering what effect my wife changing her surname would have on any application (for credit searching reasons)? So the questions I have are:
- Is it a good idea to change my wife's surname so close to applying for the largest loan of our lives?
- How long does it take for credit reference agencies to update their records?
- Will there be any adverse effect of applying in her married name, or will there be the opportunity to state the maiden name on the application?
P.s. we are in Scotland so even though we aren't ready to offer on a house, an agreement in principle is required before being taken seriously in viewing properties.
Thanks!

The mortgage app will ask either of you if you have ever been known under another name.
So her credit record will be searched under both names - also the CRAs will link both her names when any future searches are made.
If she has taken your surname on the day of marriage, you can not apply in her maiden name - whether she has got around to changing her name with her bankers etc or not.

So, I would go ahead and get her name changed over when you can, she will have to provide site of your marriage cert, and will be asked to provide a certified copy of your marriage cert with the mge app (as her change of name and marriage is so recent).
Hope this helps
