Vent: I hate equifax

Right...well I have found out why I have been declined for credit!
Equifax have a store card from Cabot which defaulted in 2008! Only problem is....I have never had a store card! So very very confused! They also have an overdraft account which is £1683 overdrawn from January 2009...which doesn't make sense! As I have another account with this bank which is always in credit...if I owed money then they would have just taken money out the other account wouldn't they?
I am going to obviously get this sorted, but the question that I have is.....it doesn't appear on my EX report, so if I applied for credit now ( I am not going to!) but if I found a creditor who only searched EX would they see the "default"?
I didn't like Equifax prior to getting the account I never got to speak to anyone English I hate talking to people who I can't understand on the phone one of my biggest pet hates!

O.K the problem is likely to be one of these thing:
1) someone with a very similar name to you whose info has been recorded on your file.
2) identity fraud
3) joint accounts having an effect - have you ever had any joint loans/mortgages/bank accounts/second carholders etc on anything? you might still be linked financially unless you have diss-associated yourself with them.
I'd also check your credit file with experian and call credit in case there are similar issues. Anyway I'm sure that you must be able to dispute enteries that are not yours - is there not a number to phone or something?

Oh and to be fair to Equifax it might be that they have been given misinformation or not enough information etc by Cabot or somewhere else - they are only as good as the information given to them.
Mistakes happen -obviously you need to get to the bottom of this as soon as possible though.
Best of Luck
