Lawyer in Edinburgh for Writing a Will

"a competent lawyer", no such animal.
Make sure that the person is a Member of the Will Writers' Association or similar as this is a Professional Qualification which most lawyers do not possess.

Just because I am surrounded by FOOLS does not make me wise. :j0 -
Google Will Aid, it's when some lawyers give up their fee to write your Will and you just donate an appropriate fee to charity (I would say £100 would be reasonable) Not sure when it's on though.0

Thanks both. I found a thread on MSE about free wills and Will Aid, but I got the impression you got a very basic job which may not be correct for you, which kind of put me off. Then I read about someone getting charged about £800 by a lawyer, which just sounded ridiculous. I can't seem to get a feel what what's reasonable and who's reliable.0

The Society of Will Writers.
Here is the link but this is only for Wales & England, I presume that Scottish lawyers have something similar.

What's ridiculous about it? Rates in Edinburgh are extortionate. What do you think pays for them? Go to a lawyer in a cheap wee town, same job done, same law applied.0
