tilly, if you get your oh to google the model of the car followed by either 'running on WVO' or 'running on biodiesel'. You will find sites where people have not only converted their cars, but info on what vehicles run on it.

WVO (Waste Veggie Oil) is the easiest to deal with and use. Read the various forums from beginning to end to learn the art of using an alternative fuel source. Even using a 50/50 mix, your OH will cut his fuel bill by at least 45%.
Your maths don't add up...If you change from using diesel to biodiesel made from WVO it'll only save 20p a litre in tax. The production costs of this biodiesel is higher so it'll cost about 10p a litre more to produce and store than normal diesel so the final savings if using a 50/50 mix would be about 10% it's certainly not 45% that would make the biodiesel portion of the (£400) fuel bill cut from £200 to £20. That simply can't be possible.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Have sent a PPI claim to First Direct- worth a shot.

In 2008 my bank charge cases were put on hold with Barclays and First Direct and I have now resent all info asking for it to be looked at again.

Have been talking to OH about any way we can reduce things. I always buy my own lunch but he is apparently spending about £30 a month at work on his so this is another £30 we can put towards debt.

I'll be going through some more things this weekend- putting things on ebay, doing my xmas list/budget. I do a lot of homemade pressies which is good:xmassmile. I'm also going to set up a diary on the Debt Free Diary page so i can keep track.

Thanks everyone for all the help:D
