Have you tried Freecycle, I ask as I have just replaced our OnDigital box due to the size and will put the old one on Freecycle as I've seen them on there before.0

Yes Top-Up TV boxes are becoming obsolete. At least the slots for the cards are; they will still work as ordinary Freeview boxes. See https://www.topuptv.co.uk for details of their new service and boxes (and consider whether satellite or cable might be a better option).0

Freeview receivers with slots are not becoming obsolete.
Setanta will shortly be launching on Digital Terrestrial Television, and will require a receiver with a slot to subscribe.
Sainsburys are currently selling a Setanta branded Goodmans GDB7CA at half price for £27.49 (normally £54.99)
Also before Christmas Tescos were selling Astratec TOPD2 receivers for £24.97
Argos also have 2 Top Up TV capable receivers on their website: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Browse/catalogId/10001/identifier/8163062/jspStoreDir/argos/Trail/C%24cip%3D42492%3EC%24cip%3D42559%3EC%24cip%3D42561.htm
For more details about Setanta coming to Digital Terrestrial Television, see this link: http://gb.setanta.com/portal/content/dttsignup0 -
