Honeymoon?

I understand the pressure to go somewhere hot and sunny and make it the holiday of a lifetime. But as others have said it really is up to what you both want to do and can afford.
I also didn't want to remember our honeymoon for the wrong reasons - sunburn, food poisoning, or some of the other horror stories you sometimes hear about such as muggings. I know this is rather extreme, but I really didn't want to spend a shed load of money taking a chance on somewhere I knew very little about.
Anyway, we have just returned from two wonderful and relaxing weeks on the Norfolk Broads. It is about the sixth time we have been there, but we always find new places to visit as well as seeing old friends. It was the ideal place for our honeymoon, with great weather and on the odd couple of occasions when it rained, we spent it upwrapping our wedding presents, opening cards and drinking champage!
Sorry to ramble, but I suppose what I'm really trying to say is, don't think you have to follow the crowd - it's your wedding & honeymoon, do it your way and what you're comfortable with
Oh, and hope you have a fantastic time, whatever you decide! :wave:A highly active brain needs feeding often

Our plan at the moment is to go somewhere in Europe for a couple days after the wedding and take a long holiday winter the year after to give us a chance to calm down again and save some
more. Also by waiting a few months after the weather is ideal southern hemisphere and will get a bit of winter sun0 -
Further to the poster who mentioned citybreaks, I can definitely recommend Budapest - it's cheap, lots of interesting things to see, lovely food, and you can have the lounging around aspect of a beach holiday in their many spas and baths.
When we went we stayed in a hotel called Normafa up in the hills, right next to woodland - so you can get up, have a big breakfast, stroll through the woods, dip in the hotel pool, bus ride down to town, cake and coffee, couple of hours in a spa... absolute heaven! I don't work for the Hungary tourist board BTW, I just genuinely like the place:laugh:0 -
The Mrs and I are going for the works honeymoon - a month away, 4 different hotels, loads of shows, fancy meals, activities booked etc - it should be the "holiday of a lifetime". That said, I'm fairly sure we could stay *anywhere* for a week and it would be the best week of our lives - just so looking forward to spending time together as newly-weds and having a holiday for the first time in a few years. The fact it's your honeymoon will make it special enough - all the other stuff is just a bonus

I have stayed at the Normafa Hotel too. I really liked that place although didn't have time to go in the hotel pool, wish I had though.0
