Work Programme

There have been a number of threads asking for more information on the Work Programme so I thought I'd start a thread giving more information.
Work programme can be entered at various times in a claim
18 year olds who have not been in education, employment or training for 6 months will be referred 3 months after becoming NEET.
18 - 24 year olds will be referred 9 months after claiming JSA.
25 year old plus will be referred 12 months after making their claim for JSA
Any age who have been claiming JSA for 22 out of the previous 24 months will be referred to the work programme 3 months after the 24 month period. For customers on Flexible New Deal this means that if they complete 12 months on FND they will be referred to the Work Programme three months after FND ends.
The work programme will last for up to two years, hopefully less as the idea is that all Work Programme customers will find employment.
The Work Programme host can claim payment only when a customer signs off benefit after finding employment. The payment will be in two parts, the first payment soon after the customer starts work with the remainder of the payment being made after the customer has been in employment for a period of time. The second payment will be larger than the first payment to encourage the host to find permanent employment for their customers.
Any travel to interview costs, training or financial assistance to take up employment will be met by the host rather than Jobcentre Plus.
Failing to attend meetings organised by the work programme host will result in a sanction of Jobseekers allowance.

someone in another thread has to print extra copies of every application they do to take as proof. is this reasonable and will it be expected of everyone by every provider. or could it be that the person who posted this has a bad adviser?0

Is there anyway i can be fast tracked onto the programe?, i really want a job and i think this is the best way through the jobcentre i can get one.
Also is there anyweher i can get a list of these compines so i can ask them myself.
donnajunkie - for my cv and cover letters i would just show them sent items on hotmail.0 -
Hi
In my area (Newham), Seetec are running the Work Programme.Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -
You can download a spreadsheet on the DWP website with details of work programme subcontractors and the area they're working in.
http://www.dwp.gov.uk/supplying-dwp/what-we-buy/welfare-to-work-services/work-programme/
According to my ESA advisor you can volunteer to go on it if you're in England but they can turn you down.0 -
What i have noticed is that the providers are nearly all the same nationwide, and a few employment agencies are there too, how can they give the provider a cash bonus when the customer gets a job. When a customer gets a job is there a specific amount of time he/she needs to keep the job before the provider gets the last payment.
Also i have heard that providers will still be in contact with customers when they have got a job too, which really would nark me as i have signed off and would be entitled to tell them to get lost.0 -
Yes it is possible to be fast tracked to the work programme however a referral will still need to be made by the Jobcentre. It wouldn't do any harm asking your adviser about being fast tracked however I have not gone down that route with any of my customers yet.
From what I believe there must be two Work Programme providers available for all locations, they will have 50% market share each, or as near as possible. If one provider is seen to perform significantly worse than the other threir market share will be reduced.
In my area one of the providers, SERCO, sub-contracts the work to other providers and I'm hoping to spend some time with at least one of them some time soon. Until I've been to one of the providers I won't know what is expected in the way of job searches etc but I'll keep you posted.0 -

I attended the work programme last week and it was an utter waste of time.
I have already been offered a job in a school which doesn't start until September, the advisor didn't know what the hell to do with me and her manager was more concerned to not be seeing as giving me 'training' on how to search for a job because they can get fined, apparently.
So, after umming and ahhing, they said I need to come back in a fortnight but wasn't sure what they could do during the interview, until I suggested they work out my tax credits for when I do go back to work (which I've already done myself)
All in all a waste of my time, theirs and money (which they will get paid for the job that I found myself)0
