Diaries

Following on from the thread about journalling, how many of you keep appointment diaries or do you use the calendar in your phone? I still prefer to use a proper diary so I can scribble notes in and numbers and information I need to remember.

I use my phone calendar for appts and stuff I need to remember to do, the reminder alarm is a life saver:o I also take notes on my phone if I'm out and about, I try to use my phone as much as possible so everything is in one place and its always with me:)

I just use Google calendar. That way I can access the details on my phone, computer and elsewhere. Recurring things get repeated automatically. It's a brilliant way of remembering direct debit dates.

Hi, don't you have a back up of stuff written down, I often wonder what happens if you lose your phone or it crashes. Sometimes I rush out of the house to work without my phone (though not very often) and I would be lost without my actual diary with important phone numbers in it. Also what about writing down account numbers and things that are difficult to fit on the screen of a phone. I currently have a Blackberry though so there is quite a bit of space on the screen but the phones I've had before have had limited space.

No, if I lose my phone, I can still access the stuff via Google on a computer. Google are less likely to lose my data then I am myself. Most entries can be recreated from elsewhere. I never have data in only one place. BUt I don't have a single backup place for diary data.

I think the google calendar idea is a good one, you can sync everything together, I have a blackberry too, you can back up data using Blackberry protect - its a free app check out the app store, I store sensitive info on my phone in a code only known to me, gosh that sounds cryptic but it works really well for me, I do use a written journal at home but its for my work only, and I can jot down notes, changes to plot lines and characters as I'm writing and info I come across online can easily be jotted down for a later date, I keep track of my various pieces of work using software designed for writers:)

I use a paper diary. I much prefer to write stuff on paper.
I do keep a diary on the DebtFreeWanabee board but that's so people can tell me off when I waste money. No-one knows what's in my paper diary :rotfl:

I have a normal paper diary that I keep in my handbag for birthday's, appointments etc. and I also use ReminderFox on the computer so a nice little box pops up to remind me!

Phone numbers etc are in my diary and in an address book next to the house phone and backed up on the computer.

I have a personal diary (filofax), a work diary (A5 size), work's Outlook email diary and my phone diary!! :rotfl: Plus facebook and yahoo have birthdays stored on them so get notified of those too.

I need a work and personal diary as my work one is too heavy to lug with me when I'm not in work. it needs to big cos it's a record of what I do with my work kids over each 12 week period I have them for (I'm a youth worker/teacher type person). And I have to put all the big stuff on my outlook cos I'm rarely office based so people (colleagues) need to know where I am.

I use my phone to set reminders for things like posting parcels, who I need to ring and other small stuff.

I'm thinking of downgrading the filofax at end of year and just getting a small pocket sized diary as even though it's a pocket filofax it's still a bit bulky to lug everywhere in my handbag.
