Second Car Insurance

My dad has passed away and I may be having his car. His insurance runs out tomorrow. If I insure it , is it a completely seperate policy to the one I have on my car at the moment?

It will be a seperate policy inless you go for one of those 'multi-car' policies. I know Admiral do it but not sure about anyone else (think DirectLine do as well)

my mum doesnt drive so she has offered me the car and whilst it is not the car of my choosing it would be silly to pass up on this gift and it is nice to have something of my dads0
