Yes we did get a mortgage and within 2 days. Halifax seem to be very picky at present. Good luck

Tis my pleasure Mae, hopefully it is the address issue which is easy to fix.

I do hope that you come back with some good news, and as you see from FunFinders kind input, Halifax certainly aren't the end of the road by any means.

My best wishes and good luck to you ...

Don't forget to let us know how you eventually get on ..

Fingers crossed for you ... ;)

Sorry to add more to the mix I have just learned my husband has not changed his address for his Halifax account from his parents house yet....I think we may fall out at this rate.....lol....is this something they will question seeing as it's a previous address on his credit rating page?

If there is an OD facility on his bank account then it will be registered with CRAs - whether the OD facility is used or not. (its registered with CRAs as the OD element of a bank account is regulated under the Consumer Credit Act (with part v exemption) ).

Even if there is no OD facility, applications for bank accounts involve credit checks with CRAs - which is where addresses/previous residences may be linked.

So Hubbys bank acc still has Mum & Dads as his place of residence.

Any lender may question why its not been transferred to your home address ... how long are we talking about, did he leave Mum & Dads weeks ago or yrs ago .. ?? If he has only recently left his parents home, then it could be argued, if it is made an issue by the new prospective lender, that he simply hasn't got round to it. If its longer they may require an explanation as to why he hasn't advised the bank of his new address.

So, get this address changed over asap - and you could include an appendum with any application, explaning anything that you think may be an issue following status & residency checks.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Holly
Nope we have lived here for over a year now he just never changed it as he doesn't get postal statements .... It's a good job he is at work tonight I'm so annoyed. We are going to change the address at Halifax tomorrow first thing. To be fair to him it's so much easier to have everything sent home when in the forces as you never know how long you will be posted somewhere. I just don't know what to say anymore I'm totally freaked out we will loose it all :(
He has an overdraft but pays it off each month. I can see why Halifax might be worried... it's so confusing and it seems so unfair. Im pretty close to losing hope now .......

I have said after dealing with Halifax in 2007 for my first mortgage I will never deal with them again. the mortgage was for £49460 and they sent the wrong paper work several times, lost all my info so I had to take fresh copies 4 times and due to them dragging their heels I had to take new wage slips in as it took about 4 months to complete.Luckily it was a Right to Buy scheme or I may well have been homeless!
