Credit records

How far back is it possible to get a persons credit history? between 1985 and 1990 I lost my job house and had a very large numberof CCj's. Thankfully these are all paid and behind me now.

I recently applied for a new job in a large specialist company, who said they needed 20 years credit history with no CCj's. I did some reseach which suggested that only 6 years of a credit file is kept this is all OK and has been since 1998, so my question is how can they get 20 years history??

    tell them goodluck
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    They will probably ask you.

They have no chance of finding out unless you tell them. all cra's only hold the last 6 years of data. if you dont tell them they'll never know. 20 years history is a joke anyway.

Thank you all for the replies, I thought I'd ask as someone told me that the big three credit reference agencies kept archived material which they could refer to.
