I know you say your parents can't help you financially - but could you move back in with them (assuming your dad still works at your work it'll save you twice)? I know this will mean that they lose your rent - but as it stands they probably will anyway, at least with you not in the rented house your room could be let.
Posting an SOA helps quite a bit and I'm sure you're more likely to get more help then.
    Best wishes

  • I would suggest that you contat cccs/payplan if the situation is that dire...

  • 20 miles to work and you're paying £200 pcm? I travelled 90 miles to work upto September '06 and was paying £273 pcm. Yours seems expensive! How about cycling? My dad used to cycle 18 miles a day (one way) back in the early 1970s. He was in his late 40s back then.
  • Could you not get a similar job closer to home??
    Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

  • You said earlier you work full time. If you are on say £6 an hour x 40 hours this is £1040 a month based on a 4.33 week month. This gives £800 a month take home, if you are paying only £250 a month rent and bills, this leaves £550. Enough to get to work if you budget properly.
  • Check out some coach companies. There are normally some that run workers into major towns and cities. They are much cheaper than the rail companies although they can take a little longer.

There is always the option of being signed off work by your doctor from the stress...however it could mess up your future prospects to some extent.

I think your best option, is to seek another way of generating more of an income...perhaps a second job at weekends/evenings. Until this situation resolves itself.

Benefits wise, if you leave your job - voluntary redundancy - then you won't be able to get JSA for 13 weeks.

As to other benefits, it depends on your age and living situation. I'm not sure about HB when you are sharing and renting from a parent, sorry.

You will not get HB when sharing a parental home. However, you could get Second Person Rebate on Council Tax.

And if you are doing this near min. wage job why not get a similar job close to home (Tescos?), you are only spending £250 on bills and rent and £200 on travel so where is the rest of your money going? What did you spend the debt on? I think there are budgetting issues here. Why can't you get a second job for a few hours? Benefit levels are pretty low and a single young male capable of working is not going to be a priority for housing and housing benefit doesn't pay that much for a single male. Yes you might not be any better off working at the moment but do you really want to drop out and spend the rest of your life on your bum in a bedsit. It's a lot easier to get another job when working already.
Why don't you consider some of the ideas, spending diary, doing an SOA rather than repeatedly asking about benefits. It's a safety net for the most desperate not an easy life. Are you really so desperate that you want to drop out of society?
