When are references sought if you apply for a job through an agency?
I've seen a job that I'm considering applying for but obviously don't want to let the cat of the bag with my current employer at the mo.

In my experience, agencies don't seek references on people they are putting forward for permanent jobs, only for those who are seeking to work as temps. It would be for the real employer to seek references when they have decided they want to offer the job to an applicant. You don't have to provide referee details when you apply: you can say you would do this if the job is offered.0
