Halifax causing me "arrears" issues

Has anyone got any good advice for this. I got a notice on my credit file to say my Halifax account was 3 payments late. I have in fact got a reducing overdraft arrangement with them and am paying it off on time every month. I spoke to Halifax and they said that this puts me into the category of being in "arrears" and so they automatically mark it down as late payments on the whole balance and not on the arranged amount. Surely this is wrong as before I decided to pay off my overdraft I had no late payments/defaults on my Halifax account. They did not tell me this would happen and I personally think this is an archaic way of handling credit files. They have made my credit score worse than it when I was paying for my overdraft rather than clearing it off. I am not in arrears as I have an arrangement that I am respecting and keeping up with. In my view this is a perfect way of handling my account and shows I am responsible with my account and not mishandling things as they are making it out to be. Not many people can afford to pay of their overdrafts in one go nor have the discipline to save up to pay it back. The Halifax in my view give awful customer service as Lloyds TSB do not do this and neither do Nationwide, and believe me I am telling people. So far my sister has closed her two children's Halifax accounts even though the interest is the best due to my comments on them and then her following experience with them.

I'm not sure on this one.
Did they write to you to inform you that they were withdrawing the overdraft facility and that's why you've come to this arrangement?
If so then I can sort of see how this would happen but still seems a bit heavy handed.
Let us know the background OP.

I got a notice on my credit file
Its not your personal credit file. Its a file that's kept on you.
The purpose of which is to keep other lenders informed.0 -
Hi, what does "the background OP" mean?
And it is my credit file as it is a file kept about my credit history and therefore I own it. No one else does do they?!0 -
I meant tell us a little about how the situation has got to this Original Poster.
Were you going over the limit and they pulled the overdraft or what?
The more info we have the more we can help usually.
