Equifax snapshots - just for me right?

I've just noticed on the summary page of my Equifax report there is a box with a Snapshot of all the personal searches I have made (about 3).

This is handy as I can compare my report 6 months ago with my current one.

HOWEVER - at the bottom of the page when I view a past report there is the following line:

"The Equifax Credit Report is valid for 2190 days from the date that Equifax processed your request."

ie - it's valid for 6 years.

Please tell me that no-one else can see these. I would hate to think that when my sheet is finally clean in a few months time others will have access to these older reports and will be able to see my history for another 6 years?!

Holding my breath ...

as far as I know, no one can. Experian say that no one even knows you search your credit report, even though it shows as you searching. I guess Equifax are the same.

  • Equifax actually have two sections for searches, one for credit related searches that will affect your credit report and the other for non credit related searches. Its this section that all your own Equifax searched appear in and there is a notice that says something about only your own Equifax searches appear to you.

Phew - thanks. So it doesn't matter how often I check my report as others doing credit searches won't see that history?
