Advice for keeping Red hair RED

I had my hair dyed red a couple of weeks ago. I was quite explicit about the fact that it must be blue-toned rather than orange-toned, because these kinds of reds suit me better, but also because I didn't want it to fade into an orange colour, however it appears to be doing exactly that, so does anybody have any suggestions on how to go about toning down the orangeness? I'm using products for coloured hair and in feels like it's in really good condition, but it's slowly getting more and more orange with every wash! I say orange, what I really mean is ginger....

Your better off using a shampoo & condition for red hair as opposed to coloured hair. Also, washing your hair less & using dry shampoos helps redue fading.
You could also try using those wash in wash out toners just to freshen up the colour inbetween colouring.0 -

Thanks for your advice, I was thinking of trying a toner or a semi-permanent colour just to tone down the rusty colour it seems to be heading towards.Never argue with an idiot; they'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.0 -
I colour my hair red using a semi permanent from Schwarzkopf. It's their Country Colours range. I find it lasts just as long as a permanent.
Here is a link to their website, it should take you to the red hair section
Hopefully this offers some good advice.

Nothing wrong with ginger.
Nowt sillier, IMO, than someone paying good money to dye their hair red and then complaining they look like a person with red hair.
Fake red always fades quickly, as the molecules are a different size/shape compared to the other dyes, like the ones with blue and green in them. It just lifts out, no matter how much you try and smooth the cuticle over.
People on TV/in magazines only have bright red hair because of a) they get it done far more often than lesser mortals b) it's a wig/extensions or c) it's been photoshopped.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Keeping the colour: its very hard to maintain a vivid red, you may need to reapply the colour for special days/nights out or if your using a lot of heat or hard water, both of which will add a great deal to fading. Also if your abroad, try to keep your hair out of the sea, sea salt plus sun light (heat) would make hair drier and also make hair fade.
There are many decent brands out there which claim to prolongue colour, I think though the way to go though is with a colour depositing S&C which can be bought from John Freida, Superdrugs wash-in-wash-out, Aveda and no doubt countless others.0 -

.
This is true but like I said, I wanted it to be a bluey red (the problems with that being that it can go a bit ashy and grey; but still better than orange for me) rather than orange red as orange doesn't work with my colouring. It's like saying someone is being silly when they complain that they asked for a caramel blonde and ended up with yellow hair. It's all blonde but it's not the blonde they asked for.Never argue with an idiot; they'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.0
