Joint account on DMP - help!

I have just strated a DMP with Payplan, and they advised to get my partners name removed from a joint account we hold.
The account has an overdraft which I am including in my DMP as pretty much all the debt is mine anyway.
We have been in to our local Hlifax twice to sign the forms to get hime removed, the first time they said they lost the forms ?? so we had to do it again.
I just called them to check he had been removed, but have been told that as the accoount is in the overdraft, we can't remove names from the account. They said we'd have to pay the full outstanding (aprox £950) in order to remove his name from it.
At no point during the two branch visits or 5 phone calls over the last 2 months have they ever told us this...
As always, no offer of help or details of any other way of doing it, god I hate Halifax so much, def the worst bank I've ever delat with.
I'm really worried as don't want to trash my boyfriends credit rating.
Any advice?
Many thanks
Vicky

Your partner is going to have to pay this off.
Do you have any other debts with Halifax? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hi
This often does happen with joint accounts, the bank don't want to let someones name be removed when the account is overdrawn. Though they should have told you this earlier.
They won't let you include this in your DMP if boyfriend's name is on the account. Best option is probably to leave it out the DMP and boyfriend to take responsibility for the debt. If you can get the account into credit for a few days (just after payday for example) then they should allow you to remove your name from it, leaving the debt with boyfriend but allowing the 2 of you to financially disassociate on your credit files (assuming that its the only joint link between you).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Argh, and it was all going so well!
I have a personal loan and a credit card with Halifax both of which are also on my DMP so I'm prob not their fave customer right now!
Have emailed my Payplan case officer to see what they advise, they also didn't say anything about it when we went through all my debts and outgoings.
Worst case scenario, I'll have to take it off the DMP and we'll have to pay the ridiculous £30 per month OD fees they charge...DMP with Payplan started 01/07/11

Worst case scenario is much worse.
What they can do is pay the monthly shortfall on your loan and credit card (in your name) from the OD in joint names, effectively transferring the debt from you to your OH. We have seen this done in other cases, the worst of which was a £17K loan.
I think you need to have serious words with someone senior at Payplan now.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
