I booked one for the me and the now Mrs. about 5 to 6 years ago on expedia. It was a good deal at the time with return flights from International, 5 nights in the park central hotel (near central park), return airport transfers, 48 hr bus tickets, access to empire state building for two for £1000 all in.
    Regards, Robin.

I have to disagree - certain travel agents might ;-)

Ive recently returned to using Trailfinders - I used them when I was a student and used them for convenience last year for a South America flight/trip and last month for Canada/USA flights.
They were cheaper than I could find the flights myself.

I also tried priceline last month for hotels in the USA/Toronto. I used their bidding scheme and although at first the hotel choices seemed dodgy (going by tripadvisor reviews etc) the hotels were excellent and worth far in excess of what I paid.
The bidding process though is better done at short notice (I was bidding in the morning of the foyer of the hotel I was leaving for the next one that night).

If you want to book in advance, for certain hotels you are going to pay more, just realise that and go and enjoy yourself. Id still give american holidays or the likes of trailfinders a shout.
  • i have heard nothing but bad reports about american holidays!!!!!!!

    That's harsh, quite personal too.

I recently used Thomas Cook at Forestside for a trip to Lake Garda. Very friendly, helpful service. Made a point of calling a colleague who had been to the area to get a personal recommendation - and it was on the mark.

  • I sed hostelbookers and cross checked against tripadvisor as hostel bookers also feature cheaper hotels. 17th street west I think it was was a nice area.
