hospital jobs

I have seen a job at my local hospital that i like the look of, the job is for Porter.
The problem if i am reading correct is that it is only open to INTERNAL applicants only?

THIS POST IS ONLY OPEN TO EMPLOYEES OF THE ABERTAWE BRO MORGANNWG UNIVERSITY LOCAL HEALTH BOARD.

If I am reading this correct how do I get to apply for this type of job in the future.

You can't, unless you already work for that employer. Usually jobs are restricted like this when there are redundancies/reorganisation and new roles need to be found for existing staff as a priority over newcomers.

Find vacancies that aren't restricted, that's the only answer. What solution did you hope we were going to come up with?
Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.

all the ones that are not restricted are out of my league qualification wise.
doesn't seem fair to me TBH

But it also shows it may not be the most secure job environment to go into as well. Good luck with finding something else.

There is a recruitment moratorium therefore only applications form current employees will be considered.

There will be a sizable list of employees awaiting redeployment as their posts are at risk.

In the future the jobs could well be reopened to all candidates even this one could be if they receive no internal applications.

Basically the trust is trying to reduce total head count.
  • In the organisation I work in job are advertised for two weeks for internal redeployment, then two weeks for internal applicants only. After two weeks, if there aren't enough internal applicants, the post is opened to all.

With all the redundancies most NHS posts seem to be being advertised internally initially and if no suitable person is found after interviews it'll be opened to external candidates.
If you got to the NHS jobs website you can register for email updates for suitable jobs.

  • I work for Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Local Health Board, and unfortunately HR policy is that all jobs must be advertised internally at least twice, before they are advertised externally. As someone else has said, register for job updates on NHS jobs website and they will email you when suitable vacanices are advertised, that way you will know when it is advertised externally. Hope that helps, and good luck with the job search :D
