Bankruptcy and Bristow & Sutor still pursuing

I don't understand this at all. I went bankrupt in 07. Has the law changed since then?

My council tax debt was included in my bankruptcy, right up to the day of bankruptcy, and bailiffs had been in my house.

All that happened to me, was the council sent me a bill immediately afterwards for the amount owed from that day to the end of the financial year.

I assume something changed somewhere. Still waiting on CAB assessing it because even they think its wrong so will see what happens.

About to try sort out BT now.

My trustee got sacked :/ I did wonder why I was still getting letters/demands. But now due to the length of time lapsed its not looking good.

Hoping BT let me stay with them, I didnt want to include it but I had to. I assume they will issue a new bill from the date or BR.

    We'll see :)

Ok so now it seems that even when discharged Bristow & Sutor can still demand payments... something seriously wrong here it seems.

I got an early discharge granted in December and got the letter last week so rang them up & got politely told that I need to stick with the arrangement or I default, I'm confused as to why people go banktupt when they still have to pay some of the people..

Going to CAB in the morning so will see if they can sort it for me.

I assume tax credits will be amended as they did say they only make repayments until date of discharge. I await in anticipation :undecided

    Good morning Scotlady,

I wish i could help you further..

The only thing that i'd advise you is that,i seem to notice that you're always phoning them (this will one day bite you if you cant proove your verbal agreements with them).

I'd stick to sending recorded delivered letters to them.

I could be wrong but the letters helped me alot in telling the collection agencies where to go when they kept harrassing me even after my BR.Havent received any letter/s or threatening phone calls after that.

All the best and please let us know how you're gettin on.

Just wanted to update this with my adventures today...

I thought I'd ring up Bristow & Sutor to check the balance and guess what... they've returned my account to the council, reason "bankruptcy in June 2011 and customer should NOT be making payments beyond that date"..... as I'm sure you can imagine I was speechless. So B&S warned me that I needed to make the payments after I told them I was bankrupt, ranted on about walk in possession bla bla bla and now nearly 9 months on they say, oh she shouldnt be paying it..

I ring the council and ask, what happens to the £256 I paid then? And funny that they cant tell me...

So if you do end up going bankrupt and B&S are on the list, make sure you hound them and make them listen...

DCA in lies to get paid shocker!

Seriously though pleased for the OP. Just goes to show you should generally not believe anything these people say.
