First Post - First Step is the Hardest

Hello,
earlier on in the week I made a phone call to Payplan which I can honestly say was one of the hardest calls I have ever had to make. I made the call as I need help with my debts, a situation that I have been struggling with for a while but have never fully opened up to anyone about before.
I was quite distressed on the phone and shed tears throughout the conversation but the lady at the other end was calm and professional throughout. A money expert will be calling me on Sat to go through my SOA and I am hoping to set up a DMP, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what type of paperwork I will be required to send them? Want to get myself organised and prepared not that I have taken that very hard first step.
Thank you in anticipation.

    Hi,

Sorry have never been on a DMP, but I'm sure others who have will give you all the info you need. Well done on taking the first step. Wish you all the best of luck for Saturday.

Hi Rosettie, well done on making that first step, it is always the hardest call to make but hopefully the worst is behind you! To prepare yourself for the call you need to have all the details of your creditors; creditor name, account numbers & balances. You'll also need details of your income and expenditure. You should receive an email before your appointment letting you know exactly what they need from you.
    Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of Payplan. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"
  • Well done for tackling things and good luck

  • Yes also want to say well done! I eventually ended up bankrupt but the greatest stress was at the point you were at. It actually got easier one I'd admitted the problem and asked for help.

Peace of mind is worth any price!

    Hi Rosettie.

Whilst waiting to speak to Payplan (or get the email from them) if you haven't yet done so then it might be an idea to start completing a statement of affairs (we use this format) - http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html
once that is complete you will find it contains much of the information your payplan advisor will need to know.

Thank you all for your kind words, ecouragement and help. I did get an e-mail from Payplan and so know what information I need to give them over the phone, just wanted to know what documents I would have to post to them.
Feeling slightly anxious about tomorrows call but I know this is something I must do if I am to resume to a life where I sleep at night.
