A pound shop would be nice but I think an asda would be nicer - a bit of competition to focus Tesco's mind a bit

oooh yes, an ASDA would be good, but I *think* that Tesco have some element of control (shares/part ownership or something) over the Ellesmere Centre - not sure though, the same person who told me that told me that they're going to open a Primark, a cinema and a bowling alley in the Ellesmere, and none of that has materialised!
I do wonder if the Tesco they're building on Long Causeway will be more competitive as it's so close to Farnworth ASDA.0 -

To be honest I think Tesco just probably bribe the Ellsemere with cash to get away with doing what they want. yes I've heard all the same rumours too, and it said in the advertiser last week that we are getting another 10 retail units with a market hall in 'phase 3' of the walkden regeneration...they can't even fill the ones they already have!!! mind you, I've heard off a couple of people that the man who owns the ellesmere - Mr Goubay - get's paid from the EU whether he has his units filled or not (not too sure how that works tbh) but would kinda explain the lack of shops in Walkden! :mad:0 -

I went through a period thinking I didn't have any competition at all. Through DTD (when it was big) I managed to get everything I wanted, every day. I genuinely thought I was alone. How wrong could I be?!
There were rumours that Sainsbury's were going to move into the unit Tesco have taken as the store is seriously underperforming and they have another new massive one opening five minutes away. Why that'd bother Tesco though is beyond me - they certainly wouldn't leave and let a competitor move in.
Ha ha Adam.. Your patch...:rotfl: unfortunately I've worked at Tesco Walkden for 6 years so I guess that gives me some claim to your terrirory
The good news for you is that I'm not greedy and I like to share - plus working there means I don't want to be running up there every day to nab all of the bargains, I have a love/hate relationship with the place - can't stand the company and everything they stand for yet I love all of their glitches and take deep pleasure in screwing them when I can
:D:D
I think for DTD you were pretty much the only one. I kinda missed out on that one, got in a few days before the end so have a modest stash. but working on the tills I only saw a couple of measly DTD vouchers...apart from this one guy...who used LOTS of vouchers...and informed me about them at the start of the transaction;)
oh and one of the other ladies informed me of a nice man, fairly young, in a grey suit, who used to use lots of DTD vouchers... you don't own a grey suit do you? ha ha ha :rotfl:0 -

!!!!!!, that's me!
"Fairly young"! How dare she! I went in after work when working nearby.
And the paragraph above, I used to let them know I had a voucher before scanning as calling a supervisor to verify them took ages sometimes so that may be me, too.
TBH, I did become very well-known during DTD days in that store. I used to rotate which checkout girl (never went to the guys as the tricks the others pull on here with them wouldn't work for me!) I'd go to so as not to arouse suspicion - that doesn't seem to have worked...
I'm now wondering who you are... Definitely checkouts... Hmmm...10 Ways to Spend All Your Student Loan In A Week0 -
I have kind of become obsessed with looking at the clearance section in Boots, don't know if this is a good thing or not

Anyway from my recent find
Dentik Duo Pik £1
Colgate Smile toothpaste 4+ 50p
Colgate Sensitive Enamel Protect 75ml 50p
Plus it came under the 3 for 2 offer so got an extra 50p off
Would of got more but my OH was moaning about me buying more clearance thingsIBS - D sufferer since 2008, Anxiety sufferer since 20100 -

I'm glad I'm not the only one! Sometimes I feel I'm either going to be arrested for attempt shoplifting or carted off to the local looney bin!! We must look like right nutters, walking up & down, scouring the place!
S xEverything I wanna do is either illegal, immoral or fattening! lol :rotfl:0 -

It's on the end of an isle facing the normal checkouts not medicine.
I would say that they take the sign down but the past 2 times I have been the top shelf has had the exact same things on in the same place. I'm sure your not "that" mental :rotfl:
You was in Walkden right??

I am a bit mental.
And, yes, that's my local, too. I'll have another look tomorrow, thank you.10 Ways to Spend All Your Student Loan In A Week0 -

That was my thought today - the staff must think I'm either casing the joint for a robbery of antihistamines or I'm about to shoplift a load of hair colouring! I've been in twice now, walked up and down all aisles twice and not bought anything, all in the last two days...10 Ways to Spend All Your Student Loan In A Week0
