HMV differing online and store prices

Options
Hi guys,

Ive noticed that the prices online for sale stuff at HMV differ from those of in-store prices.

For example, The Office 2nd Series £5 in-store, £3.99 delivered online
Back to the Future 4 disc boxset £9.99 in-store, £12.99 online
National Lampoons 4 film boxset £12.99 in-store £11.99 delivered online

Its not always cheaper to buy online, as this shows. So maybe people can post the differences theyve found.

  • This seems to be common practise for HMV stores - They even have signs in their store saying not all copies of the same CD will even be in the sale:rolleyes: For example i bought a CD for £4.99 in the sale only to see it priced at £15.99 ( ) in another section of the store.

to be fair, HMV are crap, at least you know that you can walk away with an item from a shop, online people have had items 'on order' for weeks if not months !!!!
I've had some bargains from them online but one item i had at xmas was second-hand when it arrived thus spoiling someones present and then they tried to charge me for the new item at full price !!!!
If you want to see your item sooner rather than later, go in store ;)
  • Also, HMV online is based in the tax free haven of Jersey - hence the lower prices.

I prefer to buy online. Cheaper prices. Even better if there is an online code!!

I have been waiting a fair few months for a DVD that is on back order but that is only because it is a deleted title and very rare, at least HMV keep me regulary updated about it.
  • HMV High Street are a different company to HMV online - same as most High Street / Online etailers.

they might be different companies but only just, when you ring their customer service number the first option is for 'Online' or 'High Street' ........... different companies for accounting/tax free purposes only me thinks

I'm always surprised by the survival of stores such as HMV which is very uncompetetive compared to web shopping and other music retailers.
I wish 'Our Price' was still in business, you could always find a bargain in there!

Which probably explains why they are no longer in business!!!

HMV issued 2 profit warnings this year - I would not be suprised if, in time they simply just become an on-line retailer only.

I had an e-voucher from HMV which I deleted by mistake. I contacted them and asked for the code to be sent again,I'm still waiting for them to reply (a month later) and they've had no business from me. A great way to treat customers eh!
