When I'm due to see someone, I give them a list of the things I'll need and I get them all up front;-

    3 months banks statements
    3 months payslips
    Last P60
Evidence of identity (Passport or Driving Licence)
Evidence of address (Bank statement, utility bill less than three months old)
Letter confirming deposit is gift (if applicable)
Credit file (if likely to be difficult)

I copy and give them back at the appointment.

If the case gets pulled for audit, as many do at random, the items mentioned are requested later on in the process. If I get them up front, I can simply fax them on request.

It's a bit of proactive reasoning. I'm pretty sure all the brokers on here do the same thing.

    Totally right kingstreet.

Get everything you could conceivably need beforehand as it can prevent delays later.

For example (not Halifax) but some lenders still will not accept internet printed bank statements and require certified originals. This can take WEEKS for some inept banks to sort out !

It's much better to be prepared even if the lender does not require some of the paperwork at the first instance, they sometimes ask for it later.
