would you continue to look for jobs closer to home?

Sorry this is a bit long and probably a bit muddled but will try and put it down clearly!
I work in retail and orginally the store i worked in was 30 minutes away from where I live, I got on really well within the company taking on extra tasks and getting trained up for promotion. Unfortunately the store I was working at closed down (due to lease being up and the centre the store was in wanting a long lease signed) and I was transferred to a store 2hours away which I took but was told it would only be short term until they can find another site for the store closer to home. It really isnt worth while me doing this as by the time I have paid out on travelling I get paid hardly anything (only get 12 hours a week).
I did leave to start a job nearer to home but unfortunately this didnt work out as although in the interview they said they would be flexible around child care etc in reality they werent willing to be and expected me to work in another store for three days (worked out at 21 hours) for free while deducting my pay as I couldnt work in the store I was employed at. Luckily I phone my old employer and they took me back, I am working on the fact a job is better than no job and I am really grateful for them taking me back. I have since found out that they are not looking at opening up closer to home for at least another two years!! My question is would it seem very ungrateful to continue to look for jobs closer to home in the hope I can find someone who is more flexible? only looking for 12 hour contract or there abouts and only up to three days a week Im not able to work, or do I stick it out at the job which is flexible but too far to travel for the amount of money I am receiving in the hope that they do decide to open a store closer to home?

There's absolutely no harm in looking and seeing what's out there and your reasons are perfectly good ones - don't feel the need to tell anyone at work though!0
