Making token payments by cash at PO/bank

Hello. We're about to make our first vastly reduced payments to all our creditors (they've all refused our offer but we know it's politic to keep paying something, however little). Nathaniel was under the impression we could go along to the Post Office and pay over the counter in cash along with the paying-in slips you get on the foot of statements. However, having rootled about on the PO's website there's nothing there about making these sorts of payments, so now we're not sure we can. Does anyone know, please?
The main point for us is that we want to keep our new bank account details private so we don't want to write a cheque on the account, much less set up a DD. If we can't pay at the PO I guess it's postal orders, but then we pay extra each time, daft when some creditors are getting as little as £1 to begin with!

I've just made a manual payment for my mortgage. ... I think you can make payments as usual with cash, using your statement slips, but you may have to go into each one's respective bank (eg. I had to make my mortgage payment via Barclays as that's where they hold their account).DMP with payplan started Feb 07 ... total debts... £66,000 Debt Free date 20240

I thought that could be the case, bit hopeless with Egg and the Co-op, and we live in the back of beyond with very few branches of anything.
In the end we decided it wasn't worth the faff and we've set up standing orders for three months, which is how long we're making these payments before revising (upwards!) the amount we can pay.
Fun fun funnnn! If you can't be a good example, be a dire warning

Did you use Payplan or similar company to arrange this reduced payment with your creditors? If they have all refused your offer how do you now move forward? Have you received many phone calls or letters from them? And yes you can make cash payments using the statement slips!0

No we haven't, we're DIYing. We're still going to make the payments we proposed, hopefully increase them after three months then if the business increases in the way we expect and anticipate in 2007 we may well be able to get it all paid off, but as things stand just now we're in 'reduced circumstances'. God yes, we've been plagued with phone calls - MBNA have bee the worst. We won't deal with them on the phone though so they're wasting their time. We've received two default notices so far but we don't want credit ever again so we're not worried about that particularly. We're hoping that we can pay them all off, possibly with a proposed one off payment that may be a fair bit less than we owe them, by the end of 2007, but we're prepared to face the debt collectors, courts etc if it comes to that. They've picked the wrong people if they think they're going to intimidate us!
Do you mean we can pay with the statement slips at the Post Office, or does it have to be certain banks?
Thanks

surely this is as simple as reading the back of the monthly statement that detail how you can pay....most allow internet payments, payments from a bank using the payment slip (although you may be charged by the bank unless its at branch of your own bank or the payee's bank) by standing order, DD and by post with a cheque or postal order but most dont offer a post office facilty.
if you really dont want them to know your bank a/c then pay cash at a bank using the payment details on the bank giro (be sure to keep the giro details as presumably they will stop sending you monthly statements) or send a postal order .0
