90% of households NOT in financial difficulty

90% of households not in financial difficulty, and only another 10% assessed as being "vulnerable" to experiencing financial difficulty.

In actual fact the numbers are probably much, much smaller, but debt charities do like to puff up the figures to further their cause.;)

Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

Not sure how you can try and post this as a positive thing, 1 in 10 is a very high number to be in this sort of trouble.

What a strange report! They set out all this doom and gloom, with not as much as a single word of recommendation or suggestion as to what to do about it - other than the most woolly statement that Governments must 'understand' it and 'address' it.

My suggestion would be to give them all a 50% benefits rise, but pay the whole lot in Greek Bonds. Maybe this will teach them not to get into debt.

    26m households
It found that 3.2 million households are either three months behind with a debt repayment or are subject to some form of debt action such as insolvency.
    3.2m in serious financial distress = 12.3%

    +
Another 3 million are finding it hard to make ends meet and are vulnerable to increases in household bills.
    3m in financial distress = 11.5%

So almost a quarter of all households are in trouble according to this report. I'm dubious about vested interests putting out these reports too but at least represent what they purport to say correctly, please.

It's just a bulliish spin off of my thread.

A rather obvious, witless, and not particularly original spin at that.
