My New Years Resolution

Hello everyone

Over the last year or So I have managed to get myself into £3217 debt through 1 credit card, a large student account overdraft and a credit agreement on a tv and some little small debts such as mobile phone missed payment.

Now I started 2006 with 0 debt whatsoever, I had a good credit score with the bank and I was happy when my bank statement came in, sadly this is now a different story. I was unemployed between September and November (NEVER AGAIN) which has not helped my situation one bit.

I finally got a job in Mid November and Have just recd my first pay cheque a week or so ago, most of which went on xmas.

Now I take home about £850 a month after tax plus I can make up to £250 a month on ebay selling stuff. Usually this is around £100 - £125. This makes a gross of around £975.

My outgoings are as follows:

Car insurance: £73.52 a month (Expensive I know but this is cheapest i Can find)
Sky TV £21 a month (Can't cancel as only 3 months into minimum contract)
Minimum payment for TV is £31.73 (currently £165 in arrears with this)
Mobile phone £25 a month (Currently £75 in arrears with this)
Gym (New yrs resolution pt2) £22 a month
Rent £100
Petrol is around £70 a month but varies.
CC payment £20 min
RC Car racing membership £10 month

This all equates to £373.25 a month.

I do spend perhaps a little too much on leisure activities like go karting (my alcohol) and trips to the cinema. This can come in around £150 a month.

The rest of the money goes on lunches and food at work, I do try and cut down on this by making a sandwich before I leave for work and I don't buy stupidly priced coffee from starbucks and the like. I live at home with my mum and my sister (both of which work full time) and try to chip in for the occasional shopping trip so I can help the family out.

Yesterday I woke up feeling a little odd, not hungover from xmas before, but I felt guilty that i had so much money owing in different places. I had a good hard think about it and decided that I am going to try and clear all my debts by the end of 2007.

Wish me luck.

Good luck! You're already heading in the right direction...keep making those sandwiches, you won't believe how much it saves you.
