Help! I've killed my PC...

Hullo.
Somehow, one of my PC startup files has eithe been deleted or corrupted, and when I switch it on, I'm told to insert a disk and press r.
I don't have any disks for the computer as I bought it 2nd hand.
I'm not sure if it has windows pre-loaded as there's a product key on the back, but if it's on the HD somewhere, I have no idea how to access it :S
Does anyone know where I can get one of these disks from? I'm running XP on a Sony Vaio PC (not laptop)

Yes, only things plugged in are keyboard and mouse. iPod etc disconnected, and have made sure I've removed all the disks, but still no luck.
Have tried safe mode etc too, but that's not working either :S

Can you borrow an XP disc to run the repair routine?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

No need to borrow a disc. I'll give you a link to the retail disc image to use for the repair.

XP Home or Pro? What is the full model number of the machine?

Unfortunately not, I don't know anyone who has the disks :(

Check your PM inbox. The disc is only for the attempted repair, as of course I'm not supplying you with a licence, only the disc.
