Work changing shifts at short notice

Is there anything in your contract that states what the minimum time period is for them giving you your rota?
I agree with SavvySue, tell her you can't change shifts and this is partially due to the taxi issue.0 -
It's not a huge company, just a few branches around 1 city and a couple further North. There's no central HR I don't think, just central office that deals with payroll - all of the hiring was through the store manager direct and I haven't actually had a 3 month review yet (been there 5 months now) so HR haven't been involved at all (if they exist).
I had a word with my manager about it the other day but she still seems to think that the taxi driver is some sort of time lord as she changed my rota at 30 mins notice even though I live 40 mins away from work!
Not sure what to do now tbh.0 -
And my contract just says "reasonable notice" in terms of shift patterns changing.0

Are they happy with your work?0

I think that's the problem, they seem so happy with what I do that I can't get 10 minutes of peace from it. I get calls at home asking for advice, interupted on my break to jump in and give someone a hand and trying to get a day off is a nightmare, they give me loads of overtime without asking me about it first.0

get caller ID or answer phone so you can be "out" more0

OK, so there is a centralised payroll. Phone someone there and ask where you would take a query about changing shift patterns: is there any central HR function, is there a senior manager who sorts out policy etc?
And have you requested your 3 month review? That could be worth doing: they might have forgotten that you've been there so long, or forgotten that they haven't done it. That could be a good time to raise the issue of changing shift patterns.
Out of interest, what happened when she tried to get you in 20 minutes after she'd contacted you? And what happens when the rota is 'short'?
And are you fully staffed? If you are, and this is an ongoing problem, then it isn't viable long term, is it? If it's (allegedly) a short-term problem because you're short staffed, then it's still not reasonable, but perhaps more understandable.Signature removed for peace of mind0
