Just found a CCJ on credit file from 2006...

Hi, I'm kinda new to here but been registered for a while.
Basically, I have just run a credit search for myself and have found a CCJ totalling £850 from 2006. I think it may be a car I had on HP that my psycho ex demolished, I lost interest and stupidly stopped paying the HP.
I have found the debt which said it was 'settled'. It's on there twice as well with different amounts, I think I phoned up as I couldn't afford the initial repayments so they stretched them out over a longer space of time and reduced repayments. I was 18 when I got this HP out and my Dad was a guarantor as, at the time, I was new to the world of credit.
My situation is, as it says 'settled' on the Credit Agreements, but does not say satisfied in the CCJ, where does it stand? I'm very confused! Another thing, my Dad died in 2007 after a road accident. As he was the guarantor, is it his debt or as he is deceased does it all fall back on me?
The CCJ came from Northampton, I live in Cornwall so there is no chance I'd have been able to get there anyway to defend myself. I haven't been a post dodger and would have picked this up if I knew a CCJ was impending. Where do I stand? Obviously if I'm responsible I shall raise funds and pay it off when I am able. My credit file since 2007 has never missed a payment. I am trying to rebuild it and have been wondering why, after not missing payments for a few years, my credit rating is still bad. I now know why! Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks x x x

As this is going to drop off your file in 2012, and no-one is chasing this debt, I'd leave it alone.
The fact that the debt entry is marked settled does not necesarily mean the debt is paid as that also happens when one creditor sells a debt on to a 3rd party.
Most court money claims are processed in Northampton as it's an electronic court. If a hearing is ever required, it's transferred to a local court - in your case Truro or Bodmin, depending on which end of the county you are (the court service just having closed all the other courts down here!)0 -
Totally agree with fatbelly. Wait and see what happens and hopefully it will drop off your credit file in 2012.If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.
