Hats/Veils/Funerals?

Hi - I am trying to get myself a nice pillbox hat with a veil - but apart from Ebay does anyone know where they are cheap?

Also any ideas for adding veiling to an existing riding style black hat? At present it just has a velvet ribbon around but do you just add the veil around the ribbon and then leave it fall over the brim?

All the nice vintage hats seem to be too popular on Ebay and I can't seem to find a hat site that sells any.

I do have asort of pillbox one stored away which is made up of feathers - could that also be covered with veilign do you think? Not too keen on that one myself though.

Saw jsut what I wanted with Doris Day in an old Hitchcock film the other day - a super little pillbox.

Yes that is where I would have normally got them but can't get out much now - shame as they often had nice things there.

Not really - most people don't bother with hats these days - last one I went to no one wore one but I love hats and wanted to get one ready. I think for weddings and funerals you're not really 'finished' unless you have a hat.
Anyhow I keep an eye on ebay - migth get a bargain one day or buy a base and 'dress' my own!

Well managed to get a black velvet pillbox type on Ebay today - for £5 delivered.

After I'd bid there seemed lots of nice one posted! The trouble wit hats its always nice to try them first.

Anyhow will see what this is like and add my own veiling around it if I can.

I think veiling fabric is quite cheap and there are loads of images of veiled hats/fascinators on google. You could buy some and then experiment with copying some of the ideas. Sound like great fun!
