Foundation for pale skin with rosacea?

I bought some estee lauder stuff a year ago that was "colour matched" to my skin - but the lady at the counter seems to think my skin is the colour of an orange! All the cheaper light coloured foundations I've found have had orange or brownish tones to them. I had a skin consultation with a company doing free samples a few months ago, and got one that matched more or less but I couldn't afford to buy the stuff as it was £50+ a bottle! However, the lady there did tell me that my skintone had blue and red undertones.
I recently got diagnosed with rosacea or however you spell it, so I'm guessing that accounts for the red tones
Can anyone with a similar problem recommend me a reasonably priced foundation for pale skin? Preferably something for sensitive skin, or at least unscented. I have some green tinted primer from boots to deal with the rosacea side of things, but I don't have anything decent to put on top of it.

Hi, I have rosacea too, it's a problem isn't it.
Clinique do a whole range called 'Redness solutions', cleanser, moisturiser etc but also foundation. It has really good reviews but I don't have a stockist nearby and certainly wasn't going to buy it online and hope for the best, I wanted a sample.
Finally I got to visit somewhere and thankfully there was an incredibly nice assistant (it was a Boots). I explained it was the makeup I was really interested in, and she did my whole face for me, then filled a little sample pot with that and with the moisturiser.
The foundation is the only one I've found that does actually cover the red (mine is little blotches rather than all-over red). The moisturiser didn't do any harm but didn't really help, although if I could afford it would probably buy it. The problem is, the foundation does not go very pale, shade 01 is only just light enough for me.
Also of course in order to get the coverage, it is a little heavy-feeling.
So I'd say yes it's well worth it, but you need to find a stockist and have a try. Be ever so nice to the staff and say at the outset you're worried about coverage/reaction and really want to be able to try it out at home before committing yourself:)
I'm still using the little sample, as I don't wear makeup at all if I don't have to go out.0 -
Hi GMB
I have the same skin type as you and am still trying to find a suitable foundation.
I just wanted to warn you to be careful with the Clinique "Redness Solutions" stuff. I went to my local Boots to try this just like the other poster but unfortunately, they hadn't even finished applying the moisturizer to one side of my face before they were running round in a blind panic looking for a gentle cleanser to take it off again as it irritated my skin - it went even redder and blotchy within seconds and my cheek felt like it was on fire. Luckily I had some wet wipes in my bag so we were able to get it off quickly but it has made me very wary of Clinique products:eek::eek::eek:
(Having said that my skin adores Clinique moisture surge)
good luck xSave money on toiletries: no new/duplicate items until I've used up all existing supplies

I've been using mineral make up from Elemental Beauty http://www.elementalbeauty.co.uk for my very pale colouring. The owner is very nice and will send you samples to try.
I am (typical!) between shades so I bought the lighter and darker one and "custom" blend to suit myself- slightly darker in summer and much paler in winter.
She also does a "healing" formulation which might suit you.0 -
I'm a natural red head so have always found it hard finding a decent pale foundation. The palest I've found with the best coverage are Gosh Xtreme foundation in Porcelein £7.99 from Superdrug or Max factor Xperience foundation in the palest shade, can't remember the name. They both have pros & cons but I'd say the Gosh one is better.0

I've have rosecea for several years now. I've tried various different cosmetics from mineral foundations to creams etc. I am fair skinned with dark hair so I need a very pale foundation otherwise it looks like I've been tango ed.
At the moment I'm using a foundation pencil from Poundland called NYC colour. It can be used as a concealer or foundation. The colour I have is warm beige. I use it applied to the worst of the red patches and blend very lightly as its very pale. Then I use Rimmel stay matte pressed powder transparent £3.14 I think from Wilkinsons. With the two products combined my skin looks so much better. The colour is evened out and my skin looks more natural. I'm really pleased with these products as they have some colour which looks more natural on my pale skin unlike a lot of foundations and powders which make me look orange.
A very cheap solution that works. Hope this helps. I can't go out without some cover on my face as it looks like I have permanent sunburn all year.0 -

Same here, the healing formulation here as well - very soothing
I will be honest and say that you do need to use the green powder and a concealer as well but they all blend so well that you dont feel like you are wearing make up at all0 -
If you don't mind spending a bit then Bobbi Brown do a '00' shade which is aimed at really pale people; not sure whether it would help at all with your rosacea though. If you have a counter near you you could try it out?Never argue with an idiot; they'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.0

I'll second StaceyxfxThe palest I've found with the best coverage are Gosh Xtreme foundation in Porcelein £7.99 from Superdrug
My daughter is a very pale red head and swears by this. Nothing else comes close.Greyer by the minute - Older by the hour - Wiser by the day0 -
Thanks for the advice guys, I'm going to see about getting some samples to see what won't irritate my skin.
Onelifeonly - One of the reasons I love poundland is their makeup selection! I picked up one of the NYC pencils a few weeks ago, think it was "pale ivory", and it's a pretty good concealer. For some reason though if I use it on large patches it goes weird and knd of cracks on my skin.
Amanita - That looks interesting! I tried out some mineral makeup off eBay a couple years ago, but the seller had used some sort of perfume in the mix and my skin really didn't like it. The coverage was pretty good though and I did like being able to mix my own colours. Only issue there is the price!:coffee:Coffee +3 Dexterity +3 Willpower -1 Ability to Sleep

Hiya
The best stuff I've found is Benefit Play Stick. I've got really sensitive/red skin and it takes it right down and perfect coverage - gone are the days of tinted moisturiser - full coverage all the way
The Play sticks have got camomile and some other soothing ingredients in them.
