You'll also get ones from banks pretending that you have an account with them and African dictators offering to share their fortune so beware!

Probably worth emailing info@iserv.net and reporting it to the ISP. That way they can check there servers and stop any further spamming from there email addresses if that's the case.

I had an email today from hmrc saying I was eligible for a tax rebate of £103. It didn't mention my name and had lots of spelling inaccuracies - 'your' instead of 'you're' etc. It also had capital letters where they didn't belong, and gave no name. It had a link to open but I didn't risk it because I am sure they wouldn't approach me by email so I reported as phishing. I (think it also had HMRC in the address line wiht another word in front of it (I've deleted and reported it so can't check! :) )

Yeah HMRC have a policy of not communicating by email (which is very frustrating for us tax advisors) as they don't feel it's a secure method of communication.

However, they are piloting a scheme where they will start to use email over the next few months, just with agents initially, but I guess will roll it out to the general public after that - which will open the spamming floodgates!
