Making a blanket - help please!

Hello
I wonder if there is any crafters on here who could help? I would like to make a cot bed blanket, I would like to have one side in my chosen cotton material and the back in fleece and have a satin border (tall order for a first timer!)
Does anyone have any online instructions they can point me to? I am unsure if I need to have some kind of wadding in between and I am unclear on how to edge it.

There's a baby blanket pattern here:
