Can't Connect To Server Problem

Hi, I have a problem with my PC. I go online and offline several times whilst using my computer, sometimes I get the message "cannot connect to server".

I have broadband and everything connects as normal, I see that I am connected, because a box pops up and displays my connection speed, but when I press my hotkey for web access as I normally do the message appears, its the same if I try my email hot key too. I have to restart my pc and then all is fine.

What could be happening, I can connect and disconnect several times, then it just says cannot connect to server...This does not happen everyday so it makes it even more fustrating......Very Strange..:(

I am using Zone alarm and the XP firewall is on.

Any ideas ?

Is it only if you connect using the hotkey?
Could be the ISP has downtimes or the webpage updates on the net but your hotkey link tries to go to the last visited page which is no longer there??

No need for 2 firewalls just keep Zone Alarm

    Are you using XP ?

    Wireless or wired ?

have you looked at how the hot keys are programmed ?
    Rich people save then spend.
Poor people spend then save what's left.
  • I'm using XP on my PC only, with an internal pci adsl modem (zoom) the hot keys are set as, email is outlook express 6 and the web/net key is google home page.

Would running 2 firewalls cause any problems, because as of yet this is the only thing that is a problem on my pc so far.
