SRJ Finance/Talk Talk help please !!!

Hi all, new here but a quick google search it seems to be the place to come for advice !

I'll start with the back ground information first if that's ok ;

Last year due to my business going under and a few personal problems I had to sell my home and since then have been unemployed and homeless, although I haven't had to sleep on the street due to understanding friends allowing me to sofa surf.

When I moved out I contacted Talk Talk to inform them of my circumstances and they informed me that my account would be put on hold in the hope that when I found somewhere to stay I would be able to pick up the account where I left off.

I have been fortunate that some months after leaving my house due my parents (Who are both elderly) allowed to use their address as a care of address for my post, however due to the chaotic nature of things at the time I forgot to inform Talk Talk.

The current situation and problem ;

I picked my post up last weekend found a letter from SRJ Finance which seems to be their standard Confirmation Of Current Place Of Residence letter.

I was perturbed by this so googled them when I returned to my friends that evening and that led me here.

I guessed that it may have been something to do with my Talk Talk account so rang them and was informed of the following information :-

Talk Talk Disconnected the account on 06/12/10

There was a debt of £152.24 which they passed onto SRJ Finance.

Talk Talk received a letter from SRJ Finance on 27/05/11 informing them that they were writing off the debt.

I have since received a second letter from SRJ informing me that the that the debt is to Talk Talk and threatening further action.

I really am not sure what to do next so would be grateful for any help....

Thank you in advance.

    Do you have a copy of the letter to talk talk from them confirming they are closing the account? It sounds like they are trying to have their cake and eat it! By them telling TT they are closing without retrieving the account means that TT have to pay some of the fee back (I am 99% sure of this!) Now they are chasing you so they will get 150% of the money!
    If you can prove they have closed the case you can tell them where to stick it. But as you techincally owe the money, you could make a token payment of £1 a month until it is paid off!
    29th June -Beginning Credit Score 422 :( £2575
    12th July - Credit score 471 :p
    22nd August - Credit Score 550 :p Still very poor just but only just!
    Remaining to pay off: £1370.95

    Thanks for looking,

    Unfortunately I only had a phone conversation with Talk Talk, I was a bit confused about the fact that I owed them money as they had been paid up until the point of me having to move out and had informed them of the circumstance so they put the account "on hold" from the date i moved out.
    Thinking about it they seem to be charging me for a service I could not have had or used as I was without a home ?
    They have then passed this on to SRJ, I thin k I may call TT back for some clarification ???
