hi there this evening some bailiffs went round to my parents house asking after me, about a car loan someyearsago. brother told themfrom window that i dont live there. they said i owe 7000.but if i pay now it would only be 1800. as they were leaving they took photos of all the cars in the driveway and photos of the property. they also knocked neighbours door but nobody answered. any 1 know why they took photos? and why have they come around now after so many years.

Full marks to brother for(1) not opening door and (2) not giving them any information.
They don't sound like bailiffs tbh.
Are you aware of a county court judgement on this debt? It may be worth checking against your name/that address on Registry Trust0 -
they left a letter outside it was from a finance company who have authorised them to visit property. what i dontunderstand is the photos?0

no authorisation from a court, then? Just debt collectors. No legal rights.
So, when did you last acknowledge this debt, by payment or in writing (you're still going to have to check whether there's a ccj on this)? How many years is 'so many'?
No idea what they were thinking of with the photos. Maybe they thought it seemed vaguely threatening. The mind of a debt collector is a strange place...0 -
they maybe doing the photos todo an owners search, not long till they knock byour door thoughDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

They could be checking who they belong too and assessing the worth of them for the removal of the cars.
How long ago was your loan?29th June -Beginning Credit Score 422
£2575
12th July - Credit score 471
22nd August - Credit Score 550
Still very poor just but only just!
Remaining to pay off: £1370.950 -

These are not bailiffs based on your other comments.
How many years ago did you last pay anything towards the debt? Was is secured on the car (HP) or unsecured?they said i owe 7000.but if i pay now it would only be 1800. .
Do not fall for this unless they confirm in writing that that this is a full and final paymentas they were leaving they took photos of all the cars in the driveway and photos of the property. they also knocked neighbours door but nobody answered. any 1 know why they took photos? and why have they come around now after so many years.
They will be checking whether you own any of the cars in the drive.
They are also trying to embaress your family by behaving very obviously and badly in public, which could be against OFT guidelines.
Why now, possibly because they have just bought the debt for next to nothing and hope to embaress you into paying. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
tookout car loan in 2007, loan was secured on the car i bought in june 2008 they took the car because of me not making payments. in september 08 i set up debt managment plan. in december 08 lost my job so stopped allpayments. after which irecieved letters now and again about payment.they all stopped in aug 2009 up until now0

In that case they can pursue you through the courts of the deficit. Have you checked if you have a CCJ?If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
