Can't change Windows XP theme

Been given a different computer at work, which runs XP.
Have gone onto display properties, which lists desktop, screensaver etc, but there is no option for theme???
Think I'm on the classic theme and would like the xp theme!
Any suggestions would be appreciated,
Thanks

Options have probably been disabled by your IT dept. Ask them.604!0

Our IT guy is pretty useless, and to be honest, I don't want to pester him about something that ultimately is a bit pointless!
I know the administrator password though so can do it myself ;-)
Just spotted in the appearance tab that I'm on windows classic style, but it's greyed out so I can't change it. If I log in to the PC as an administrator, it lets me change the theme, but there's no option in my log-on.0 -
You'd have to use the administrator account to change your account to give it admin rights.604!0

and even if you did that, when you rebooted it'd reload the Group Policy back to the set theme... They do it so all machines look the same, i say 'they' because i hate it; it's anti social if you need to change any desktop settings for a user.0

Sorry to be thick, but how do I do that exactly?0 -
You log in as administrator, go into control panel > users and then change yours from a standard user to an administrator. But it probably won't make any difference to be honest, you'll be in an Organisational Unit that has a group policy assigned that sets the theme, background, screen saver etc and tells the system what you can see. So even if your username is an administrator on the machine, the group policy will over ride it.0

Maybe run the reg file each morning and if the not up to much tech guy asks why it is showing the XP theme, say you bought your monitor in from home because you prefer the desktop settings0
