Disputing a default

Hi Guys,

A while ago I had an account with a mail order catalogue, at some stage my account was overdue and when I tried to login a message appeared saying there was a problem and I couldn't, this happened a few times and each time I thought i'd leave it till a bit later to try again. Shortly after I received a letter from a collection agency namely Lowell Collections, the letter said I needed to speak to them about something with no mention of what that something was, having never heard of them I ignored them, soon after it came to light that they were chasing me for the catalogue bill which I had wanted to pay to the catalogue but couldn't. When I realised this I gave them a payment of around £70.00 to keep them happy and then a subsequent payment of just over £300 and a final payment of £79.00. Anyway having checked my credit report Lowell have issued a Default against me, and this is the only blemish on my credit status. So my question is can Lowell issue a Default when I didnt have any agreement with them, the mail order company has issued all satisfactories against me.

Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
