It's nothing to do with the EU, a popular argument from the peddlers of placebo.

And they don't have 'scientists' working for them.

Peddlers of placebo???? These are herbs and flowers! The majority of drugs are all derived from those same flowers.

Don't you just love wild and pointless remarks!

Can you point me towards the scientific studies that demonstrate the efficacy of these then please?

They still seem to be everywhere on sale and I can't find anything else that talks about them not being available?

No more herbal night time teas, or natural sleeping remedys then unless prescribed by my GP. A shame. They all contain valerian. :(

There is a EU directive on traditional herbal medicines, but that came into effect in the UK on the 30th April this year. Nothing was outlawed as a result of this legislation, which simply requires all herbal medicines to be licensed in the same way as any other medicine. Of course in order to get a product licensed, you have to have evidence that shows that it actually works, which might be a challenge for some.

Not sure what the linked website means by 'last chance to buy'. Either they're breaking the law by selling unlicensed medicines or they're telling porky pies.

Wonderful. Thanks for that. I've literally spent the last hour trawling the 'net looking for evidence of this 'outlawing'. Not only do they sell lies, they also lie about the reason they're selling lies! Brilliant.

There are a number of herbal medicines based on valerian that have been licensed. Check this source here - http://www.herbfacts.co.uk/pages/thmps.php - there's a blinkin long list of them. In any case you can still get prescribed any herbal medication that isn't licensed through any herbalist. Just as long as they're properly qualified to do so.

There's plenty of hard medical evidence that milk thistle has very positive effects for the liver.

Don't forget that everyday drugs such as aspirin derive from plants - with effects proven over millennia.
