Getting credit file record withdrawn

Does anyone know how easy is it to get an adverse credit note removed from your credit file.
I had a mortgage in principal but now been knocked back as i couldn't explain 6 defaults in 2008, just checked my credit report & the nationwide have marked me as defaulting during a six month payment holiday i had with them.
I have sent them an email but can't get a mortgage until this is cleared & i have an offer accepted on a house based on the agreement in principal.

A payment holiday is regarded as putting a mortgage in arrears. Hence the default registered..0

I had no idea they classed that as putting your mortgage in arrears. They should warn you when you request to exercise the option what it will do to your credit file.0

Its not option to be taken lightly. A payment holiday for what ever reason its taken. Shows that you are unable to live on your income and /or have insufficient savings put by. To cope with unexpected circumstances for example.
The default is a warning to other financial institutions.
If there's a valid reason for the holiday. Then should not be an issue.0 -
I'm sure with the nationwide they don't put it into arrears as i've had two of them & only 1 shows up. They marked my payment due as £0 for the 6 months.
The only reason i done it was because i was moving from Scotland to England & took it to see if i would settle down here.0 -
Had a phone call from the Nationwide yesterday who said they agree with me & will be making sure its off my file within 24 hrs. Just checked this morning & its away.
Happy days!0
