Budgeting

My OH gets paid weekly and I want to try and help him budget for the bigger bills which obviously come out throughout the month. He has suggested giving me his debit card (he doesn't have any credit cards) but I don't think that will help him in the longterm (I used to give my card to my brother and be given "pocket money" and it helped me to an extent but I never really learnt how to budget at that point and it is like being a child again, I'd rather he took responsibility for his own money. Any suggestions please?
Married my wonderful husband February 2013!:happyhear
I want to wear my beautiful wedding dress everyday- it would make shopping so much more fun, I mean, people go shopping in their pyjamas these days.......
Must STOP spending!!!
Proud to be dealing with my debts!

Could he set up a second bank account for his direct debits and bills and pay a fixed amount into that each week to cover them over the course of the month? Then the money left in his main account is available for day to day spending. Basically just separate money for bills and make it inaccessible.0

I think each person will find their own way in budgeting their money. personally I like to make a list of things that I need to buy, debts include, monthly. Since your husband gets paid weekly, I would make a food plan weekly, take the money needed only for food then store the rest into a saving. This will help a lot to not spending the money for something we don't really need. You said your husband have debit card so try to open the second saving account for this. With this way you will need to make an in and out come in every week. Just my idea.0
