poor credit score - change in mortgage

Merry xmas and some advice please. Possibility that we will move next year - pay off some of the debts as we need something to show as a deposit for a mortgage. But will we get one? and where do we go for advice.?High street BS won't touch us will they as we have defaults ?but not on mortgage,:confused:

  • I have a default and was still able to remortgage with a high street bank although it was with my original provider! I found that Northern Rock were more than willing to keep my business and they waived all the charges and fees due to a bit of haggling on my part. My default is 9 months short of being discharged so maybe that's why they let me. How old/how much is your default for? It may play a part in a banks decision but I'm sure someone who knows more than me will be along shortly...
